Spaghetti and meatballs recipe

Tasty and juicy meatballs, tomato sauce and spaghetti, what a delicious combo! :). I love meatballs but I used to serve them with mashed potatoes. Since I’ve tested this spaghetti and meatballs recipe, it became my favorite.
Although I love meatballs, I don’t like deep-fried meatballs because they contain too much fat. I prefer to bake meatballs. They are very easy to make and healthier than the fried ones.

Ingredients for spaghetti and meatballs recipe:

– 400gr spaghetti
Ingredients or meatballs:
– 500gr ground beef
– 1 egg
– 1-2 onions
– 6-7 garlic cloves
– 1 potato
– 1-2 slices of bread soaked in water or milk and squeezed
– 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
– salt and pepper to taste
Ingredients for sauce
– 5 tablespoons tomato paste
– 3 glasses of water
– 2 bay leaves
– salt and pepper to taste

How to make spaghetti and meatballs recipe

Place the meat into a large bowl.
Peel the potato, onions and garlic. Finely grate and drain the potato and the onions. Place them into the bowl, over the meat. Add the crushed garlic, the egg, 1-2 slices of bread soaked in water or milk and squeezed and 1/2 teaspoon of dried thyme. Season with salt and pepper and mix well with your hand.
Cover the bowl and let rest into the fridge for 30 minutes.
With slightly wet hand shape the meatballs.
Place the meatballs into a lightly oiled non-stick baking tray.
Place the meatballs into the preheated oven and bake at 190˚ C for about 25-30 minutes (or until brown and cooked through).
Use a pan to combine the tomato paste and water. Add 2 bay leaves and season with salt and pepper. Place the pan over medium heat and bring to a boil.

Add the baked meatballs and continue to cook for 10-15 minutes.
Meanwhile cook the spaghetti following the instructions from the package.
Drain the spaghetti and place them into the pan. Stir to combine.
Serve warm with Parmesan and fresh parsley or basil.
