Juicy, flavored, Feta cheese stuffed, Bifteki are my favorite patties.
Bifteki are grilled patties, usually made of ground lamb or beef meat, seasoned with oregano, thyme, fresh parsley and sometimes with fresh or dry mint. If you don’t have the possibility to grill bifteki you can bake them.
You can serve Bifteki on a bun, in burger style, or in platter version with your favorite side dish.
Bifteki goes well with potatoes, rice, salad and/or tzatziki sauce.
Ingredients for Bifteki – Greek patties
– 700gr ground beef
– 1 egg
– 2 slices of bread soaked (in water or milk) and squeezed
– 1 onion
– 3-4 garlic cloves
– 1 teaspoon dry thyme
– 1 teaspoon dry oregano
– 1 bunch fresh parsley
– salt and pepper to taste
Optional: 1 teaspoon mint
– 200gr feta cheese
How to make Bifteki – Greek patties:
Put in a large bowl ground beef, egg, 2 slices of bread soaked and squeezed, finely chopped onion, crushed garlic, thyme, oregano, chopped parsley and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Mix all ingredients with your hand until combined.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the meat mixture rest in the fridge for 30 minutes – 1 hour.
Cut feta cheese into 5.5/2.5cm slices.
Take about 2 tablespoons of meat, flatten between your palms. Put feta cheese in the center and cover into a patty. Cover the cheese carefully, otherwise it will sneak out.
Put bifteki on a lightly oiled baking sheet.
Bake bifteki for about 35-45 minutes at 180º C.
Serve warm, with your favorite side dish.
