Soft and fluffy dinner rolls
Soft and fluffy, with a thin and elastic crust, these delicious buns are perfect for burgers. You can also use them to make all kind of sandwiches and even as table bread.
It’s absolutely necessary to brush the buns with a egg yolk and milk mixture before baking. Otherwise the crust will be dry.
You can sprinkle the burger buns with sesame seeds, poppy seeds, herbs or what ever you like.

How to make homemade burger buns
Video recipe:
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour and dried yeast.

In a separate bowl pour 250ml warm water and 3 tablespoons vegetable oil. Add the egg yolk, 1 teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon sugar and stir to combine. Add flour and stir with a wooden spoon. When the dough becomes too thick to stir, start kneading by hand. Add just enough flour to achieve the right consistency: the dough should be smooth and elastic and should not stick to your fingers.

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap and leave to rise in a warm place for 45 minutes – 1 hour or until doubled in volume.

Cut the risen dough into 8 pieces. Form flattened balls.
Arrange buns 3cm apart in a non stick baking tray (or any other baking tray lined with parchment paper), cover with plastic wrap and let rest for 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven at 200ºC (392ºF).
Whisk together the egg yolk and 1-2 tablespoons milk. Brush the burger buns and sprinkle sesame seeds.
Bake for 15 minutes or until golden and hollow sounding when tapped on the bottom.

Let cool on wire racks.

Enjoy!
