Mint and chocolate…  Mmm, what a great combo! I don’t know who had this wonderful idea, but it must have been a genius :). My husband loves those tiny mint chocolates “after eight”. So, I decided to make a special cake for him: After Eight cake. This cake is a super delicious combo of flaky cocoa cake, mint flavored filling and dark chocolate. I’m already salivating :). This After Eight cake is also quick and easy to prepare and very refreshing. For the mint flavor I used mint syrup which was colorless. So I added some food coloring. Roasted beetroot and potato soup

Beetroot soup is one of my favorite soups. It’s thick, rich, a little sweet and packed with flavor. Although I really love beetroot, when I make a soup, I prefer to combine beetroot with other veggies. The reason is that I can get a much more creamy texture. I’ve already made roasted pumpkin and beetroot soup and I anted to try a new recipe: roasted beetroot and potato soup. Yes, roasting the veggies is an important step. Vanilla custard slice

This vanilla custard slice is a very popular Romanian dessert. It is made with vanilla custard and puff pastry and, optional, with whipped cream. It’s an absolutely delicious dessert, an incredible combo of creamy, sweet, vanilla flavored filling and crispy and crumbly puff pastry. This vanilla custard slice is also incredible easy to make, of course, if you decide to use  commercial puff pastry. You also have the possibility to prepare puff pastry from scratch but it takes a lot of time. I have to admit that I prefer the faster and easier way: I call my husband and ask him to buy a pack of frozen puff pastry :).…

    TV cake (Budapest cake)

This TV cake, also known as Budapest cake, is a famous Romanian cake. I don’t know where the name comes from because it doesn’t look like a TV, but I can tell you for sure that it’s an absolutely delicious cake. TV cake is also very easy to prepare with a handful of ingredients. It’s made from plain sponge cake,  thin cocoa cake sheets and vanilla cream and topped with a delicious sticky cocoa glaze. You have to work a little to roll out the dough, it’s true, but you get a huge cake, enough for a crowd, and it totally worth the effort. You really have to try this…
