Still looking for the perfect chocolate cake! Well, good news: you just found the best ever chocolate cake! Everybody loves this chocolate cake and it makes the perfect choice for any anniversary.
This two layer chocolate cake is dense and fudgy, perfectly moist with a brownie like texture. And it’s so incredibly easy to make!
Also, this made from scratch chocolate cake calls for simple ingredients like flour, cocoa powder, vegetable oil, sugar and eggs.
To prepare this chocolate cake all you have to do is to combine all the ingredients. You may use a mixer but a whisk will work as well.
I prefer to combine first the wet ingredients, then stir in the dry ingredients and at the end to stir in the hot water.
Stirring in the hot water may be a little tricky. You should pour in the water gradually, mixing in the same time. This is an important step for a smooth batter without lumps.
Then pour the batter into a baking pan lined with parchment paper and bake.
As regarding the frosting, I think that chocolate buttercream goes perfectly with this chocolate cake! It’s thick, creamy and flavorful and also incredibly easy to prepare with a handful of ingredients.
Tips for the perfect buttercream
1. Always use unsalted butter or 82% fat butter!
This is the perfect type of butter for making buttercream. If you try to make buttercream using another type of butter most probably you’ll get a broken buttercream.
2. Don’t over mix! Keep an eye on your buttercream while you are mixing because it can break into greasy lumps very easily.
3. For the most flavorful chocolate buttercream replace the milk/ heavy cream with espresso.
4. Add liquid (milk, heavy cream or espresso) tablespoon by tablespoon till achieving the desired consistency.
To assemble this delicious chocolate cake, cut the cake into halves and frost it. Also you may decorate the cake with sprinkles, chocolate, whipped cream or fresh fruits.
You definitely have to try this chocolate cake! It’s absolutely delicious, incredibly easy to make and on a budget 🙂

How to make chocolate cake
Use a medium bowl to stir together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and baking soda. Set aside.
Place granulated sugar, eggs, vanilla essence and vegetable oil into a mixing bowl. Mix on high speed until creamy and pale.
Add the dry ingredients, gradually, and mix to incorporate.
Gradually pour in the hot water and mix to incorporate. Hot water makes the batter smooth, without lumps.
Pour in the milk and mix to combine. You should obtain a smooth and thin batter.
Pour the prepared batter into the pan lined with parchment paper.
Place the cake into the preheated oven and bake on 180°C (350° F) for about 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Transfer to cooling racks and allow to completely cool.
Use a long and sharp knife to slice the cake into halves.
Place 1 slice of cake onto a platter and place on top about 1/3 of frosting. Evenly spread the frosting.
Place the second slice of cake over the frosting. Frost the cake.
You may decorate the cake with whipped cream, sprinkles, chocolate or candies.
Frosted chocolate cake may be stored into the fridge for up to 1 week. But I’m sure it won’t last that long! 🙂
