Drop doughnuts (video recipe)
Are you looking for the best doughnuts? Soft, fluffy, absolutely delicious doughnuts and yet incredibly easy to make? Well, stop looking! These drop doughnuts are the best doughnuts ever! If you don’t believe me, just make a batch of doughnuts and you’ll see 🙂
These drop doughnuts are my favorite! They are a little moist on the inside and so flavorful… The secret? These delicious drop doughnuts are made with yogurt which keep them moist on the inside.

As I was saying, these delicious doughnuts are incredibly easy to make: all you have to do is to mix all the ingredients. No kneading nor raising time required but for better results you should let the batter rest for about 15 minutes.
Then just drop teaspoonful of batter into hot oil and fry on both sides until golden brown.
See how easy it is? And these drop doughnuts taste amazing!
You may serve these doughnuts with a dust of sugar or any other topping you prefer. I prefer vanilla or chocolate sauce but a fruit sauce or jam would be a great choice. Or caramel sauce 🙂
I love these drop doughnuts and you definitely have to give them a try!

You should also try:
Chocolate custard filled crescent rolls
Black and white crescent rolls
Jam and walnuts crescent rolls
Note: when you drop the batter into the hot oil you should keep the spoon still otherwise you’ll get funny shapes like this:

Looks like a parrot :).

– 1 teaspoon baking powder
– 2-3 tablespoons sugar
– 1 sachet vanilla sugar
– a pinch of salt
– 1 teaspoon lemon or rum essence
– vegetable oil for frying the doughnuts
Note: If you don’t have vanilla sugar you may replace it with 1 tablespoon of vanilla essence
How to make drop doughnuts
Stir together flour, a pinch of salt and baking powder. Set aside.
Place sugar, vanilla sugar and the egg into a mixing bowl and mix until foamy.
Add the lemon or rum essence and the yogurt and mix to combine.
Add the flour and mix to combine.
You should obtain a thick but fluid batter.
You may use the batter right away but you’ll get better results if you let the better rest for about 15 minutes.
Pour vegetable oil into a skillet and place the skillet over medium-high heat. Heat the oil. Drop tablespoonfuls of batter into the hot oil. Fry on both sides until golden brown.
Transfer to paper towels.
Continue with the remaining batter.
Serve these delicious drop doughnuts with a dust of sugar or topped with your favorite syrup.

Enjoy!
