Make your own pizza dough from scratch, add your favorite toppings and bake the best homemade pizza!I love this recipe, it’s easy to make and delicious and it calls for simple and budget friendly ingredients.
When I ask my kids what they want for dinner the answer is almost always the same: pizza.
I know, it’s much more easy to order pizza but I prefer homemade food. Homemade pizza is very tasty, you can make the crust as thin or as fluffy as you want and you can add your favorite toppings.
To make the pizza dough you need you need flour, water, fresh or dried yeast, a little vegetable oil (olive oil is the best!), salt and sugar. The dough is soft and easy to work with and you can also use it to make focaccia or dinner rolls.
If you want you can spice up your pizza dough. You can add garlic powder, paprika or aromatic herbs. I prefer to leave the dough as it is and add spices and herbs to the sauce. You’ll see, this pizza crust is absolutely delicious 🙂
Now a few tips for thin and crisp pizza crust or soft and fluffy pizza crust. The dough is the same :).
For thin and crisp pizza crust (which I prefer) roll out the dough, transfer to the baking pan, add the sauce and the toppings and bake.
For soft and fluffy pizza crust roll out the pizza dough, transfer to the baking pan, cover with plastic wrap and allow to rest for 20-30 minutes. Then add the sauce and the toppings and bake.
As regarding the toppings, you may use whatever you like. I prefer tuna but my kids prefer ham or sausages. But it’s ok, the recipe makes 2 pizzas so I can make 1 pizza with tuna and 1 pizza with ham or sausages.
You definitely have to try out this pizza crust recipe because trust me, homemade pizza is the best!

Ingredients for homemade pizza crust
– 450 gr (3 and 1/2 cups) flour
– 250 ml (1 cup 1 tablespoon and 1 teaspoon) lukewarm water
– 12.5 gr (1 tablespoon) fresh yeast
– 1 teaspoon sugar
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
How to make homemade pizza crust
Use a small bowl to stir together fresh yeast and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Stir until the yeast turns fluid. Set aside.
Use a large bowl to combine lukewarm water, vegetable oil and salt. Stir in the yeast. Add about 1/3 of the flour, gradually, and stir with a wooden spoon. Stir in the salt then continue to add flour. When the dough becomes too thick to stir continue to knead until the whole flour is incorporated. You should obtain a soft, smooth and non sticky dough. If the dough is to sticky, add a little more flour.
Transfer the dough to a slightly oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap and let rise in warm place for 45 minutes – 1 hour or until double in size.
Next I divide the dough in 2 pieces and each piece of dough is enough for a 25/35 cm – 9.84/13.7 inches baking pan. If you want to make pizza in a round pan you should divide the dough into 3 pieces.
Next roll out the dough and transfer to the baking pan. Prick the dough with a fork.
Note: for soft and fluffy crust, cover with plastic wrap and allow to rest for 20- 30 minutes.
Evenly spread the sauce and add your favorite toppings.
Place the pizza into the preheated oven and bake at 200°C (400 °F) for about 12-15 minutes.
Cut into pieces and serve.
