Easy lemon bars recipe, chocolate glazed lemon bars, how to make lemon bars, lemon brownies
Sweet and a bit sourish, with a brownie like texture, these lemon bars are a delight! They are also very easy to make, with a handful of budget friendly ingredients. To prepare these delicious lemon bars you have to mix all the ingredients, pour the batter into a baking dish and bake. Very easy, right? 🙂
I’m a big chocolate lover and I topped these bars with a chocolate glaze. It results a gorgeous contrast between the sweetness of chocolate and the lemony flavor. I used white chocolate but you can also use dark chocolate.
Instead of this chocolate glaze, you can use cocoa glaze.
If you want to continue with the lemony flavor, you can top these lemon bars with lemon glaze made from sugar, lemon juice and lemon zest.
Ingredients for easy lemon bars (for a 25/35 baking tray)
– 250ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
– 100ml milk
– 100gr butter (at room temperature)
– 4 eggs
– 200gr flour
– 300gr sugar
– 5gr baking powder
– a pinch of salt
– zest from 1 lemon (or 2 teaspoons lemon flavor)
– vanilla flavor
For chocolate glaze
– 150gr white chocolate
– 100ml milk
– 1 tablespoon butter
Mix the flour with baking powder. Set aside.
Place into a large bowl sugar, soft butter and the egg yolks. Mix until creamy and pale.
Add lemon juice, milk, vanilla flavor and lemon zest (or lemon flavor) and mix to incorporate.
Add the flour with baking powder and mix to incorporate.
In a separate bowl place the egg withes and a pinch of salt. Mix at high speed until stiff peaks form.
Add the beaten whites over the batter. Stir with a spatula to incorporate the whites.
Pour the batter into a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Place the baking tray into the preheated oven and bake at 180°C for about 30 minutes.
Transfer to wire racks and allow to cool.
Meanwhile prepare the chocolate glaze.
Place into a heat proof pan chocolate, milk and butter. Place the pan over low heat and cook until the chocolate is completely melted.
Evenly spread the glaze over the cake.
Cut into bars end serve.
