Beef tacos (video recipe)

If you’re planning a Mexican fiesta, you definitely need tacos! Crunchy, messy and packed with flavor beef tacos :). In less then 30 minutes and a handful of ingredients you can prepare 10-12 super delicious tacos. And everybody lover beef tacos, right?

But let me tell you a few words about tacos.

Tacos are a traditional Mexican dish made from corn or wheat tortilla, folded and filled with goodies. These goodies may consist in meat (beef, pork or chicken), seafood or veggies and topped with other goodies like cheese, salsa, tomatoes, onions or lettuce. Yummy!

There are many varieties of taco and below I’m going to tell you about beef tacos – Isabell’s kitchen style.

First, I recommend you to use corn tortilla because is more tasty and more crunchy than wheat tortilla. You may even make your own taco shells from scratch and add your favorite seasonings.

Next, is very important to well season the meat. Use your favorite seasonings and don’t be tight because the meat filling very important for beef tacos. If you make tasteless filling, you’ll get tasteless tacos. As regarding the meat, you may use ground beef, pork or chicken. It’s up to you. I prefer chicken or turkey but I used a mixture of beef and pork because my husband is a huge pork fan 🙂

And finally, add your favorite toppings. You MUST add cheese like Cheddar or your favorite cheese. I also like to have dill pickles in my tacos because they go great with ground meat. Tomatoes are also a good choice and you can also add lettuce, jalapenos, onions or any other topping you might like.

I don’t add salsa to my tacos because the meat is pretty juicy. I love though to serve my tacos topped with sour cream :).

These beef tacos make the perfect choice for parties but also for a family dinner.

Ingredients for

– 500 gr (1.10 lbs) ground beef (or pork/chicken)

– 1-2 tablespoons of vegetable oil

– 1 onion

– 4-5 garlic cloves

– 1 tin (400 gr/ 14.10 oz) canned diced tomatoes

– 1 teaspoon chili powder

– salt, pepper and ground cumin to taste

– 1 teaspoon dried thyme

– 1 bunch fresh parsley

You also need:

– 10-12 taco shells

Toppings (to taste):

– diced tomatoes

– diced pickles

– grated cheese

– salsa

– sour cream

How to make beef tacos

Finely chop the onion and place it into a large skillet along with 1-2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Cook, stirring constantly, until the onion turns glossy.

Add the meat and continue to cook breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon until changes color.

Season with salt, pepper, ground cumin, chili powder and dried thyme.

Add the diced tomatoes (from the tin) and stir to combine.

Add crushed garlic and continue to cook, stirring occasionally, until reduced.

Remove from heat and add chopped parsley.

Fill the taco shells and add your favorite toppings.

Serve warm.
